Some time ago, there was a leak that WhatsApp would have a new feature like a group chat. Recently, WABetainfo confirmed this data and said that the developers plan to launch the “Community” function, probably with a planned future app update. Nonetheless, the precise date of release remains unannounced.

From the information currently available (that is, unofficial), it is known that the new functionality will be a bit like how the channels in Discord are organized. At the moment, it is difficult to say exactly how the new features will be implemented and what their design will be. The icons and interface will likely be slightly different so that users do not make a mistake in choosing between regular group chats and new communities.

Administrators will be able to create groups within groups and efficiently manage all controlled objects. They will also be able to add readers manually or using a generated link. Each such community will have its own icon, name, and description. Up to ten different groups could be linked into a single “library.” Although it is already said that the new functionality will give administrators more control over groups, what exactly it implies is not clear.

There is no other more detailed information about what the toolkit will be and who will have access to the communities at the moment. This functionality is still under development and therefore is not available even for beta testers. As you understand, there is no talk of launching it for a mass user yet. Probably, the new feature is being developed following other major competitors like Telegram, which already offers similar opportunities to its customers.

Kindly provide your feedback on the recently introduced functionality. What tool will it equip administrators with? Assess the potential utility of this enhancement.
