While YouTube, Instagram, and many other platforms actively promote internal services for creating short clips, TikTok decided to increase the length of videos that users can post. Representatives of the company said that soon it would be possible to add clips up to 10 minutes long.

When discussing the video duration, the issue of monetization is first addressed. While the 30-second format is really in high demand right now, you can't insert ads into such clips that would generate additional income. Take the Vine service as an example, which specialized specifically in short videos. At first, it was popular, but then it began to lose its audience and was closed less than four years after its launch.

TikTok has no plans to follow suit, and therefore the developers plan to roll out an option shortly that allows you to create clips of any length up to 10 minutes. Firstly, it will open up more opportunities for creators. Secondly, it will provide an effective tool for monetization. Recall that last summer, TikTok increased the available duration to 5 minutes.

Experts believe that in many ways, this step is rather risky. After all, the platform has gathered around itself just such an audience interested in getting fast content and short videos. So far, it's hard to say how much users really need long clips. It is known that all previous increases in duration were received favorably. So, probably, the company calculated the possible reaction of its audience.

We believe that this expansion of opportunities for monetization and interaction between creators and subscribers is due to grown competition, for example, from YouTube. This service offers both long and short content. How do you feel about 10-minute clips coming to TikTok? Do you plan to create such long videos?
