It seems that Google knows everything. However, in this huge stream of information, sites, and links, it can sometimes be difficult to find what you really need, especially from portable devices. And if you know that it should be on Wikipedia, why not use its proprietary application?

Of course, Wikipedia can’t compete with Google in many aspects, like buying tickets, navigating maps, and searching for images. However, regarding information retrieval, its app is probably the best alternative to the Google browser and search. Usually, when you want to find something intricate on the Internet before you get to a Wikipedia page, you have to go through tips from the search giant itself, a bunch of classified ads, rewritten Wikipedia articles, and a lot of other stuff. Unfortunately, due to paid advertising, Google has indeed increasingly opted for its own income over the users’ convenience recently.

The Wikipedia app offers you instant access to well-structured and verified information, which is essential if you (like us) are a factoid and a nerd. While some would argue that this platform has many blank spots, it is still the best encyclopedia the Internet has to offer right now. At the same time, the application is not without an entertainment component. There are pictures of the day, collections of random articles, facts about the current day, and much more, which allows you to make the most of your time, including offline.

Google on mobile devices may not really be the most convenient product. And if you are against this tech giant’s monopoly, then you should look for alternatives to find reliable information. Give Wikipedia’s app a try, and you won’t be disappointed. If you have experience using it, please share your thoughts in the comments! Do you agree that it is an excellent replacement for Google when it comes to finding informational articles?
