Google Meet is enhancing its platform with several new functionalities designed to enhance user experience. Recently announced, these updates include innovative tools designed to facilitate better communication and follow-up after meetings. The new capabilities cater specifically to different user types, ensuring a more streamlined and productive environment.

Among the updates, a noteworthy feature is being rolled out exclusively for Google Workspace enterprise and business accounts. This enhancement builds upon the existing note-taking functionality provided by Gemini. Users will now benefit from an AI-generated list of recommendations for follow-up tasks, derived from the discussions that took place during the meetings. This improvement aims to assist teams in establishing clear action points for future reference.

Details of the new "next steps" feature were shared in a company announcement. In a previous update, Google had introduced a function that allows for automated note-taking in Google Meet by utilizing voice recognition technology. This capability transcribes meeting dialogues and organizes them into coherent paragraphs. The resultant summary is stored in a Google Doc and distributed among all attendees, enhancing accessibility.

With the latest enhancement, Gemini not only catalogs discussion points but also generates future action lists based on meeting dialogue. The AI will assign due dates to these items and suggest the most appropriate participants for each associated task, ensuring accountability. This aggregated information will be included at the end of the summary in the shared Google Doc.

Users will have the option to alter these tasks as necessary, such as removing items, altering deadlines, or changing the individuals assigned. This feature is aimed at promoting alignment among participants regarding their responsibilities post-meeting.

In addition, Google Meet is launching an update that allows users to access a scrolling history of live captions, covering the last 30 minutes of the meeting. Previously, participants could only view real-time captions. This new capability will aid those who may need a quick recap without having to go back through the entirety of the meeting.

This enhancement is part of Google's broader efforts to ensure that all users, including those on personal accounts and those subscribed to Google Workspace, can benefit from these tools, making meetings more efficient and effective overall.
