Digital Turbine is a service that tracks user engagement and changes in consumer trends. Their last study touches upon the peculiarities of mobile apps used by gamers. The company's experts interviewed people from 18 to 64 years old and got amusing results.

Among the reasons why respondents use apps, the first place (54%) is occupied by the need to perform specific tasks. The convenience of mobile products follows this option by a small margin. Some people have noted that mobile products are more convenient than desktop or web versions. Besides, apps keep users informed of important events on time.

This analysis also touches upon the categories of products most commonly used by gamers. Thus, 82% of respondents use retail apps. The second place is occupied by entertainment projects (75%). They are followed by financial (67%) and food (61%) services. If we talk directly about games, users often play puzzle games (63%). Gamers are considered a unique group of users as they spend quite a lot of time on mobile products and can be used to raise brand awareness.

Digital Turbine paid particular attention to what exactly can make gamers download this or that item. More than half of those surveyed would install an app if it were built by a trusted developer whose products they've come across before. Just under half will accurately check the brand reputation and read reviews and privacy policies before downloading. Many gamers stop using a product and remove it when it is no longer relevant.

Digital Turbine research is useful for marketers and developers, as it allows a comprehensive look at the target audience in general and the behavior of gamers in particular. Do you agree with these statistics? What is your reason for downloading and deleting apps?
