It’s been ten days since YouTube Vanced has been suddenly discontinued ‘due to legal reasons’. The app used to boost the usual mobile YouTube experience, blocking ads, letting you play vids in the background, and even returning dislikes after being withdrawn from the platform in 2021. Vanced came with a treasure trove of functions that a typical Android application doesn’t offer. Furthermore, it also allowed users to make blissful detours from the Premium membership plan.

Even though users mainly appreciated Vanced because it blocked ads from YouTube, the software was very good in general and is now genuinely missed. With regard to YouTube Premium, it comes with just a few goodies for its $12 monthly subscription: offline downloads, as well as the possibility to watch videos with no ads (and in the background). While a YouTube Music bonus also comes within the plan, it’s unlikely you’ll be eager to switch from your existing Apple Music or Spotify account.

Yes, the price is lower in comparison with the Netflix or HBO Max subscription, but many video-watching enthusiasts end up concluding that YouTube Premium is just way too expensive for what it offers. However, the popularity of Vanced proves that a lot of people crave ad-proof tools and background-playing vids — they’re just not ready to splurge. Absolutely, YouTube could easily stimulate these people to invest in their premium viewing experience, it’s just that the company’s strategy in that sense somehow leaves much to be desired. So, irrespective of whether you’re familiar with Vanced or not, we have a burning question for you to answer. What would make you upgrade to YouTube Premium? Feel free to share your answers in the comment section below. We value your feedback greatly.
