Johan Pilestedt, the CEO and creative force at Arrowhead Game Studios, recently addressed the topic of in-game purchases following the launch of Helldivers II. His statement on platform X read:

"We've conscientiously avoided making the game pay-to-win, even though some items offer distinct functionalities. The only exception is the revolver—it's guaranteed to secure a victory in any 'cool weapon' showdown."

His comment comes in response to observations about the introduction of a special currency available for purchase with real money in the game. Pilestedt strongly asserts that splurging real cash doesn't translate to in-game advantages. He expands on his stance with another tweet:

"Earning the privilege to monetize is something I hold dear—players should feel that supporting our game is a choice, not a compulsion."
