Superpowered Collaboration: Marvel Heroes Enter the Magic: The Gathering Universe

Big news from the world of Magic: The Gathering and Marvel collaboration, first announced in 2023, was shared at the New York Comic Con. Starting November 4, 2024, fans can look forward to five Secret Lair drops, each themed around iconic Marvel characters: Black Panther, Storm, Iron Man, Wolverine, and Captain America.
Each drop will feature a Legendary creature card that embodies the core attributes of these Marvel heroes. For instance, the Iron Man inspired creature can create Treasure tokens and offers the ability to sacrifice an artifact for another, depending on the mana value of the sacrificed item, enhancing strategic depth in gameplay.
The drops will include:
- Secret Lair x Marvel’s Captain America
- Secret Lair x Marvel’s Iron Man
- Secret Lair x Marvel’s Wolverine
- Secret Lair x Marvel’s Storm
- Secret Lair x Marvel’s Black Panther
Each will be priced at $39.99 for non-foil and $49.99 for foil versions, containing four reprints that tie into the respective Marvel character.
Additionally, Wizards of the Coast announced a major Spider-Man themed Tentpole Booster set. While details on specific cards and their competitive format status remain under wraps, it’s anticipated to be akin to the Lord of the Rings set from June 2023, which was included in Modern competitive play. The full Spider-Man themed set is planned for release in 2025, with potential inclusion of prebuilt Commander decks yet to be confirmed.
