As the anticipation builds for Remedy Entertainment's upcoming single-player project, the remake of the first two Max Payne games seems to be on track. In October of last year, the Finnish studio announced that the project had moved into the production readiness phase, with further development expected to ramp up in 2024, which, according to the latest updates, has now commenced.

In their recent quarterly earnings report, Remedy Entertainment confirmed that the Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake has officially begun full production. The development team is now focused on shaping the third-person shooter into a playable state that spans the entire game. While the timeline for this phase of development remains uncertain, it's widely speculated that reaching the next major milestone—launch—will take some time.

Sam Lake, the creative director at Remedy, has previously explained that the Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake is a “significant undertaking.” The aim is to elevate both games to contemporary standards while combining them into a single cohesive experience. Furthermore, the project is backed and funded by Rockstar Games, the intellectual property holder, with a budget comparable to that of Alan Wake 2.
