Oscar 2024 Predictions and Early Betting Favorites
2024-02-28
The Oscars are one of the most predictable movie awards in the world. Let's see if the sad tradition continues. Here are the favorites in the Oscar race in the main categories and predictions for the likely winners. The predictions are based on movie critics' reviews and information in the major movie media.
Best Director
- Christopher Nolan, "Oppenheimer."
- Yorgos Lanthimos, "The Poor Unfortunate."
- Justine Trieu, "Anatomy of a Fall."
- Martin Scorsese, Killers of the Flower Moon.
- Jonathan Glazer, "Zone of Interest."
Christopher Nolan is predicted to win his first Oscar - fans have been waiting! Previously, the Brit has flown past 5 times as a screenwriter, producer, and director. Now, it will not be possible to ignore one of the main filmmakers of our time.
Best Actress
- Emma Stone, "Les Miserables."
- Lily Gladstone, "Killers of the Flower Moon."
- Sandra Huller, Anatomy of a Fall.
- Carey Mulligan, The Maestro.
- Annette Bening, "Naiad."
This is where the real battle will unfold. Both favorites are determined, but only one will win. However, Emma Stone is the winner of numerous awards and a favorite of the public and critics, so the probability of her victory is higher. This is the actress's fourth Oscar nomination, and the only victory was for her role in the musical "La La Land."
Lily Gladstone is just beginning her ascent to Hollywood Olympus. "Killers of the Flower Moon" is sure to propel her career, especially if she picks up a statuette.
Best Actor
- Cillian Murphy, "Oppenheimer"
- Paul Giamatti, "The Departed"
- Bradley Cooper, "The Maestro".
- Jeffrey Wright, "American Fiction".
- Colman Domingo, "Rustin".
The Irishman was first nominated for an Oscar, although his filmography is rich. In addition to fruitful cooperation with Nolan (6 projects!), Murphy is remembered and respected for the films of Danny Boyle and the series "Sharp Trump." And given the importance in all respects of the role of Robert Oppenheimer, performed so subtly and masterfully, Killian's chances of triumph are estimated very high.
Best Supporting Actress
- Davine Joy Randolph, "The Departed,".
- Danielle Brooks, "The Color Purple".
- Emily Blunt, "Oppenheimer,".
- America Ferrera, "Barbie,".
- Jodie Foster, "Naiad."
The 37-year-old Randolph is little known to the general audience, and yet she has over 40 projects under her belt. Most of these are minor and guest roles in the series, plus the actress voices cartoons ("Puss in Boots 2", "Madagascar," "Trolls"). The role of cook Mary Lam, who lost her son in the Vietnam War, in the indie hit "The Departed" showed Randolph's talent to the world. There is little doubt that she will win her nomination.
Best Supporting Actor
- Robert Downey Jr., "Oppenheimer".
- Ryan Gosling, "Barbie."
- Mark Ruffalo, "Les Miserables."
- Robert De Niro, "Killers of the Flower Moon".
- Sterling K. Brown, "American Fiction".
Downey Jr.'s third nomination would lead to a long-awaited win. It didn't work out with "Chaplin" (still a shame) and "Soldiers of Failure," it will work out with "Oppenheimer." Robert already has a pile of prestigious awards, from the Golden Globe and BAFTA to the Screen Actors Guild Award. Now, the final and most priceless piece of the puzzle awaits its place.
Best movie
- "Oppenheimer".
- "The Poor Unfortunate".
- "The Departed".
- "Barbie".
- "Anatomy of a Fall".
- "Killers of the Flower Moon".
- "American Fiction".
- "Past Lives".
- "Zone of Interest".
- "The Maestro".
A little intrigue, experts believe, and in the main nomination. Nolan should take the prize for the best movie of the year.
Other contenders do not look as solid and winning as "Oppenheimer," which perfectly captures the spirit of the time. An anxious time when no one is sure of the future.
